چکیده

Background: Oral candidiasis is one of the most common infections in diabetic patients that may occur due to a decrease salivary flow rate, alterations composition, or both. This study aimed investigate effect and non-diabetic saliva on Candida albicans adherence acrylic resin disc specimens, regardless volume. Methods: In this case-control study, population consisted 26 subjects 2 groups (13 13 patients). both groups, unstimulated whole was collected. It investigated for pH, adhesion C. polymethylmethacrylate disc. After preparing discs, samples were stored saliva, distilled water (negative control group) 60 minutes at 37ºC. Then they immersed yeast suspensions containing stained with gram stain. Yeast cells counted using light microscope. Results: The pH significantly lower than group. There no significant difference between rates two groups. Findings indicated higher saliva. Conclusion: showed same amount rate individuals, heat polymerization

Effect of denture cleansers on physical properties of heat-polymerized acrylic resin.

PURPOSE This study aimed to measure the color change, surface roughness and flexural strength of heat-polymerized acrylic resin after its immersion in denture cleansers, simulating a 180-day use. METHODS Thirty disk-shaped (15mm x 4mm) and 30 rectangular samples (65mm x 10mm x 3.3mm) were prepared from heat-polymerized acrylic resin and immersed in Corega Tabs, Bony Plus, and distilled water....

The effect of two artificial salivas on the adhesion of Candida albicans to heat-polymerized acrylic resin

PURPOSE Xerostomia can diminish the quality of life, leads to changes in normal chemical composition of saliva and oral microbiata, and increases the risk for opportunistic infections, such as Candida albicans. Various artificial salivas have been considered for patients with xerostomia. However, the knowledge on the antifungal and antiadhesive activity of artificial saliva substitutes is limit...
